Motivational Poster

Motivational Poster

This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/motivational-poster-2/). I wanted to use a play on words, but realized that with the play on words I chose the imagery, if not done cartoony like I did, would have been really morbid. This is why I used Thomas the tank engine instead of an actual train.

Contradiction creation

This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/contradiction-creation/). I am not quite sure why my mind was fixated on the tundra, perhaps because I have been holed up inside for the past few days not seeing anyone so the outside world might as well be a tundra. When it comes to contradictions I suppose I went with the simple hot cold comparison.

Audio manipulation, while it is something I have messed with in

DS106 radio final impressions

The show ended up having way more depth than I had ever expected, both in plot and given the sheer amount of  expertly used sound effects. My favorite aspect was probably the sheer potency that came from how they would weave sound effects in between dialogue in a way that constantly brings in audience attention. The amount of engagement that could happen despite there effectively being one less sensory perception was simply astounding. I don’t know what else I can say to be honest.

DS106 radio tweet along first impressions

Overall I would have to say that I really enjoyed the radio show as it was full of far more drama and suspense than I would have expected. I had a few minor issues with some of the audio but I cannot even put them into words so ultimately I would say that they don’t matter all that much. It is going to sound odd, but the slamming noises were amazing. At no point did they sound like a bunch of awkward people hitting a desk or something of the sort. It all sounded fairly professional. I feel like its

Radio Show Ideas

I suppose the thing that I would find the most interesting for a radio show would be some sort of interactive telling of a strange fantastical world. From what I have heard, “Welcome to Nightvale” is something along this idea, however I have not listened to it to know. The other thing that would interest me a lot would be the equivalent to intergalactic TMZ. I find how swept up in strangers lives those people get hilariously sad, and an intergalactic setting allows for so much outside of the normal. I also feel that with that sort of setting people

Audio Reflection

I must say, I have never really listened to all that many radio shows of this sort. However, the sound effects really tied me into the narrative of what might as well of been a documentary. The “what if” scenario of the piece felt so real in a way that I feel like film could not convey. I feel that way because in film, or most visual media, it is so easy to get caught up in the visual spectacle (or lack there of) so much so that it can detract from the work itself. This piece kept me constantly

DS106 Radio Bumper

This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/creat-a-ds106-radio-bumper/). Royalty free music found here (http://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music/track/straight). This assignment taught me how to import background music and edit it in ways that it did not overpower my quiet voice. I also had to look into fair use rules and royalty free music, which was interesting to learn about.

Sound Effect Story

This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/sound-effects-story/). I tried to convey a story of someone gaming through both a success and failure. I tried to indicate success with the happy chime, but failure with the repetitive laser beeping sound. I feel like it kind of conveys what I was imagining but only if the context is there.

Fictional Radio Ad

This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/fictional-radio-ad/). This assignment was a ton of fun to work on mainly because I love the twisted world of invader zim. Everything there is grotesque and horrible so it is a ton of fun to separate yourself and pretend to be there sometimes.
