This week was mostly spent on the radio show project. Most everything I would have to say about the project was already covered in my radio project week 2 blog post (found here: http://igtherioncrossek.com/uncategorized/radio-show-week-2/). The radio show itself will be linked as soon as the group member who said they were going to upload it uploads it. Edit: The radio show went live (https://soundcloud.com/yjang/radio-show-final) Besides that, my two daily creates are as follows. @ds106dc #ds106 I find seasonal change zen so I made a season clock. pic.twitter.com/twJM2n5h8g — Igtherion Crossek (@Igtherion) March 13, 2017 @ds106dc #ds106 pic.twitter.com/s1mbAuLaVk — Igtherion Crossek
Week 2 was much more productive than week one. People put their heads to it and wrote a script. The voicing felt a bit late in the process, but I hope it came out decently. I would say I did not have as much fun with this project as I thought I would. Proper communication was the largest hurdle to overcome during this project. People’s schedules clashed so much it was difficult to get together to write the script together all at once, or even have multiple people together to bounce ideas off of. Script writing aside it was confusing
This week was a return to audio techniques in preparation for the radio show project we will have to be doing. All in all I feel like the assignments gave me more experience in audacity which is pretty nice since it is a pretty useful program. The biggest downside of the week was just trying to get in touch with the group to communicate. While some communicated it was not everyone, and even then communication felt a bit static instead of a dynamic back and forth. http://igtherioncrossek.com/uncategorized/row-row-polyphony/ http://igtherioncrossek.com/uncategorized/sound-effects/ http://igtherioncrossek.com/uncategorized/favorite-song/ @ds106dc #ds106 pic.twitter.com/q118T4aRsi — Igtherion Crossek (@Igtherion) February 27, 2017 @ds106dc
This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/row-row-polyphony/). A polyphony is when a subsequent chorus of the same verse chimes in during a song. So with this assignment it was a matter of not only recording the base song, in this case row row row your boat, but having subsequent verses of row row row your boat join in. It was fairly simple to make although really odd to listen to, especially with my inability to sing.
I did this based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/sounds-effects/) We had to make a sound effect. One type of sound effect I really like are quiet or subtle ones, so I went with a sort of quiet clinking crackle noise. https://www.freesound.org/people/Shamilt2/sounds/382754/
I made this based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/favorite-song/). The assignment wanted us to take one of our favorite song’s and remove the lyrics, while trimming it down to around 30 seconds or so. I find a lot of songs sound odd to me without lyrics, however “kids with guns” by Gorillaz is pretty good without lyrics as it just becomes a very relaxed beat.
