Audio Reflection

I must say, I have never really listened to all that many radio shows of this sort. However, the sound effects really tied me into the narrative of what might as well of been a documentary. The “what if” scenario of the piece felt so real in a way that I feel like film could not convey. I feel that way because in film, or most visual media, it is so easy to get caught up in the visual spectacle (or lack there of) so much so that it can detract from the work itself. This piece kept me constantly

DS106 Radio Bumper

This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/creat-a-ds106-radio-bumper/). Royalty free music found here (http://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music/track/straight). This assignment taught me how to import background music and edit it in ways that it did not overpower my quiet voice. I also had to look into fair use rules and royalty free music, which was interesting to learn about.

Sound Effect Story

This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/sound-effects-story/). I tried to convey a story of someone gaming through both a success and failure. I tried to indicate success with the happy chime, but failure with the repetitive laser beeping sound. I feel like it kind of conveys what I was imagining but only if the context is there.

Fictional Radio Ad

This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/fictional-radio-ad/). This assignment was a ton of fun to work on mainly because I love the twisted world of invader zim. Everything there is grotesque and horrible so it is a ton of fun to separate yourself and pretend to be there sometimes.

Have a phone conversation with yourself.

This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/have-a-phone-conversation-with-yourself/). This assignment was fun to do albeit pretty embarasing considering I do not talk much in general so having a clip of me saying goofy things is a tad bit of a nightmare for me. It was at least kind of fun pretending to be the goofy milkman spy I came up with.

Weekly Summary (2/4-2/10)

This week mostly focused on photography skills and editing which was interesting given that I am not particularly skilled in photography. All in all I really appreciated this week because the assignments helped to get me out of my comfort zone. @ds106dc #ds106 In 1856 The covent garden theater in london caught on fire pic.twitter.com/7iq0FGobDX — Igtherion Crossek (@Igtherion) February 7, 2017 @ds106dc #ds106 I think the most beautiful things on the internet are the worlds people create within it. Love at First Shot

This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/love-at-first-shot/). I chose this picture because it doubled on the word play for shot, given it is a photo shoot and there are guns. Besides the goofy double use I actually like this picture for a couple. I like it because they are together and confident about being together despite how silly they look, which is something I feel should be a part of love rather than arbitrary “couples actions.” They also go for contrasting colors in this shot with the white in black, emphasizing not only their individuality, but how those

That’s not what I expected

This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/thats-not-what-i-expected/). I thought this would be interesting given how different certain things would look so close up rather than through the perspective we as humans are used to seeing. Here is my object. If you could not guess what it was, it was the smooth finger grip from a game controller. With the flash and that proximity it almost looks like a wall or a crayon to me.

4 lines, 5 dots, 1 curve

This was based off the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/4-lines-5-dots-1-curve/). I found this assignment really interesting because I had to really think in the abstract of not only what I could create with only 4 lines, 5 dots, and 1 curve, but also what could something I create randomly be interpreted as. I elected for the latter as I found that it was more interesting to try to find meaning in a creation with no planning. My creation reminds me of some sort of aquatic life form, or even a space ship from a science fiction piece.

Shadow of a Doubt

This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/shadow-of-a-doubt/). When I think of shadows my mind goes to shadow puppetry because it is so a fun and interesting way to convey a message. I really appreciate the plasticity of shadow puppets in what they can be and represent.
